WhiteKatsu's Zoids

OER Lot

I received this lot off eBay, it was my first bragging rights lot. They did not have any of their original heads, which is sad, as Brontozoid and Cosmozoid would've been the legendary whiteheads. The box came with the lot, which is really neat to me, being able to read the 'story' on the back.

"Zoids war against the evils of the mutant Red Zoids. Battle after battle rages on - who will win the next deadly encounter!!!"

When I received them, I found the cockpit for my NAR Guysack was similar to their cockpits, so I put it on Cosmozoid. The "Enigma Trio" lot I received had two extra cockpits, both of which were painted by the previous owner (as was the Trio). I was elated, and gave them to Brontozoid and Trooperzoid. While they may not be mint, they are complete.

The fun thing about having these, is taking Cosmozoid and putting it next to Raynos and seeing how the designs of zoids have changed so much.

"Enigma Trio"

  • Kreep (RS)
  • Spartak (RS)
  • Evil Scorpion (TZ)
When I received these, their previous owner had painted them. (I personally have no qualms about this whatsoever, even if that means their monetary value has dropped. The customizing makes them special, as they're now one of a kind and can't be reproduced. I have something that someone lovingly personalized, even if they no longer care.) It took a bit of research (and a bit of shaving) to find the correct identities of them all, but in all, they are still vintage, and still special. Two extra cockpits arrived with this lot, which gave the rest of my vintages 'heads', so that they could be complete in the basic sense of the word.

Sadly, Spartak does not have his motor, meaning when I pick him up by anything but the legs, his legs get left behind, and Kreep's tail-antennae thing is missing, so occasionally, the back part splits and dangles separately.

Serpent Lot

  • Serpent (x2)
What a silly looking zoid. It looks more like it'd qualify for the special parking or restroom stalls. Ever since I found out about a zoid named "serpent", the snake lover in me went "MUST HAVE". Now that I have them, I laugh at how silly and cute they are. Only one of my serpents have the 'serpent shnoz', which makes me wonder if they need the nose piece to be a serpent, or if that's just a modifiable part.

The funny thing about them is that, if you don't set them so they lean back on their tail... they faceplant. XD

Whiteheads

Garius
Spiderzoid
Aquazoid
Protozoid
Unknown lineage, so the names could be different. They are however, whiteheads, and came with a pamphlet dated 1981. None of these exist in the modern lines, making this 'chibi army' quite unique.

I lucked out with this group, getting the lot of them (with shipping) for $22. And the picture on eBay didn't have the proto's ears, and the spider was in pieces, so when they arrived, I was elated to find that they were all essentially MIB (except for a couple guns on Spider and a couple caps on Aqua).

To Recycle or Not to Recycle

The thing that fascinates me the most about Vintage Zoids is how some models, like the "Godos", "Guysack" and "Molga" types, get reused frequently to the point no one really even looks at them, but other models, such as Serpent, Brontozoid and Cosmozoid, were used once (maybe twice, I don't know), then never again, ditched to make factory space for newer models. Perhaps they were too cute for a life of war?
